Because many of our services involve shipping firearms, we follow all federal, state, and local laws governing firearm transport and handling. This Shipping Policy outlines how we receive, service, and return firearms and related items.
Firearm Shipments for Gunsmithing Work
Customers may ship firearms to Sawgrass Armament for approved gunsmithing or engraving services.
- All firearms must be shipped from and to the same legal owner or through a licensed FFL as required by law.
- Before sending your firearm, please contact us by email or phone to confirm the work requested and obtain written authorization.
- Include a copy of your driver’s license or FFL information inside the shipment for verification.
Do not ship ammunition with your firearm under any circumstance.
Shipping Firearms to Sawgrass Armament
- Firearms must be shipped through a common carrier such as UPS or FedEx using Adult Signature Required service.
- Handguns must be shipped via 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air according to carrier regulations.
- Rifles and shotguns may be shipped by ground service where permitted.
- The package should be plain and unmarked, with no indication that it contains a firearm.
We recommend purchasing insurance for the declared value of your firearm.

Return Shipping After Service
Once the requested gunsmithing or customization work is complete, we will contact you to confirm return shipment details.
- Firearms are returned only to the original sender or FFL on record.
- We ship all firearms back using Adult Signature Required delivery.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise stated in writing.
- Tracking information will be provided upon shipment.
- We inspect, clean, and package every firearm securely to ensure safe return transit.
Turnaround and Processing Times
Typical turnaround time for gunsmithing services depends on the scope of work, parts availability, and current queue.
- Standard services may take 2–3 weeks.
- Custom projects and refinishing may take 4–6 weeks or longer.
- Customers will be notified if delays occur due to parts sourcing or manufacturer lead times.
Shipping of Parts and Accessories
Customers may also ship firearm parts, accessories, or components for service or installation.
- Small parts should be packaged securely to avoid damage in transit.
- Accessories do not require FFL transfer and can be shipped directly.
- Return shipments of parts will be sent via standard ground service unless expedited shipping is requested.
Damaged or Lost Shipments
Sawgrass Armament is not responsible for damage or loss caused by the carrier.
- If damage occurs during transit, please contact the shipping carrier immediately and file a claim.
- We will assist with documentation and communication as needed.
- Always retain tracking numbers and shipping receipts for your records.
Local Drop-Off and Pickup
Customers in the Orlando, Florida area may drop off and pick up firearms by appointment only.
- Appointments are available daily between 8 AM and 10 PM.
- Local service eliminates the need for shipping and allows direct discussion of your firearm project.
Compliance and Legal Notice
We comply with all ATF and federal firearms shipping regulations.
- We do not ship firearms to restricted states or jurisdictions.
- All firearms must be returned to the original owner or designated FFL.
